About Us

Operation Reconnect is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, in the office of Mike Jones.  Mike is a former editor of early Insight and also a former pastor. He left the church in the early 1980s following a divorce.  He returned in 1998.

In 2003, Voice of Prophecy invited Mike to develop the venerable radio ministry’s outreach to inactive and former members.  In response, Mike wrote a book telling the story of his journey, created a newsletter directed at missing members, and began taking speaking appointments.  He also created several DVDs to help individuals and churches wanting to reach out to inactives.

Four years later in 2007 Voice of Prophecy was unable to continue this ministry because of a lack of funds.  VOP told Mike he was welcome to take over this outreach on his own if he wished.

During the next two years after receiving a constant stream of requests for help in reaching inactive and former members, Mike decided in late 2009 to create an Operation Reconnect website in an attempt to begin providing resources and encouragement for those wishing to reach out to the million or more of our missing members thought to be in North America alone.
